Super Smash Bros. 4: Leaks, Rumors, And a Character Wishlist
Super Smash Bros. 4 is a reality – this much, we know. It was announced at last year’s E3, but has not been confirmed to be at this year’s convention by Nintendo or HAL Labarotory. The game, which may or may not be entitled Super Smash Bros. Universe, will be available on the Wii U and 3DS. Will the game be featured at E3 2012? We’re hoping that it will be, and indications are that Masahiro Sakurai is hurrying to ready it for the Wii U’s launch!
What you see here is a document that was (supposedly) leaked a while back, and that is all about Super Smash Bros. 4. (Don’t try to read it, because it is in Japanese, and somebody has already translated it.) There are several key points that can be taken from this document, one of the major ones being that the game could be called Super Smash Bros. Universe, with the U matching the Wii U logo.
Masahiro Sakurai is the lead developer for the project, and he has confirmed that there will be “connectivity across platforms,” which implies some level of character customization and level-building. This, in my eyes, is a good thing.
Sakurai also commented on Capcom characters, when asked, saying that it is a possibility, but a slim one. (He cited troubles in terms of getting the characters to work well with the Nintendo fighting style.) To be honest, I’m not that big into Capcom characters, and I won’t throw a fit if none of them show up on the game’s character roster.
The document references the success of third party characters in Brawl, and indicates that there will be more of this in the future. (Fist pump.) It also talks about making Samus faster, which would be nice, and disses both the Mother franchise (EarthBound and F-Zero, saying that there’s not much more they can do with these series. And, honestly, I’m tired of Ness, Captain Falcon, and Lucas, and wouldn’t care much if they were kicked out of the game. (Just to let you know, I did decide to keep Ness on my wish list, but booted Captain Falcon and Lucas.)
This list is in three categories: characters I want to keep / bring back, characters I want to get rid of, and characters that need to be added to the game. (Some of these are 3rd party candidates.) Leave your feedback in the comments, and tell me if I’m taking out someone important, or if there’s a character that you’d like to see added to the list!
