Roku LT For Only $50, And Streaming Sounds Even More Appetizing

The Roku LT is the newest version of the series, and cuts the price from a potential $99.99 (or $59.99 if you get the lowest version) to a mere $50.  I’ve been tempted to buy streaming devices before, but none have seemed to be as appetizing as the new Roku device.  Though the drop in cost makes a shift to 720p video necessary, the $60 and $75 versions are also 72op, but the $100 is 1080p, this shouldn’t make much of a difference to the average streamer.  Why?  Things generally aren’t picture perfect when you stream – it’s not going to look crystal clear anyway, so why bother shelling out the extra cash?  The Roku LT, of course, still comes with the remote, but no longer will you be able to use it for apps, since the microSD card has been taken out of this little guy.  Which makes me wonder… why would we even want another way to play Angry Birds?  It’s a good game, but for crying out loud – I already have Angry Birds on both of my iPhones, my iPad, and my iPad 2, so why do I need to play the game yet again?

The Roku LT, though hindering your app selection, allows you to stream anything that the other models allow you to.  Hulu, Amazon Instant video, Pandora, Netflix, you name it!  While you’re naming all of the things that the Roku LT can stream, add in HBO Go, since it was just added to the extremely long list of reasons why the new Roku streaming box is awesome.  Also, as mentioned by my friends on Zatz Not Funny, it’s purple.  You can’t beat that color combo, unless you’re Whiz Khalifa, who likes to have a random blond streak in his afro.  That – that’s a sick color combo.

    Hey, Jack:

Quick question for you on this and other streaming devices. When someone buys one of these gadgets, does one still have to get the stream service separate? For example, Hulu + or Netflix, etc. And how does one attach a ROKU to a TV, is it via USB?

    Let me know.

      Hi Missy,

Yes – you’d have to have a subscription to Netflix, etc. and the connection is wireless with the majority of these streaming devices – no cords needed. Hope this helped!

      Thanks,
