BANG! is an innovative lamp design by Bitplay that allows you to shoot out your lights.  Of course, you could do that anyway, but BANG! saves you a bunch of broken glass and a possible arrest for having an unregistered weapon and/or disturbing the peace.  The product was initially created as a concept design, but after receiving substantial media attention, Bitplay has decided to make it available for purhcase.  Currently, it’s only available in Japan, but the product page says that the lamp will be coming to other regions soon.

 

 

The BANG! Lamp design allows you to shoot the light out, and the shade will cock sideways as shown above.  Since the designers knew it would be terribly bothersome to have to go reset the lamp every single time you shot it out, they made it so that shooting the light again turns it back on.  Realistic?  No, but it sure saves you a heck of a lot of trouble.

I have a video below that demonstrates the lamp, but I need to warn you – it’s very strange.  Mimes hiding in closets and shooting out lights?  Run and hide, mime-a-phobes.
