HTC Omega Vs. Nokia Sea Ray
The HTC Omega is one of the first in a series of next generation smartphones equipped with Windows Phone 7 Mango. One of its chief competitors looming on the horizon is the Nokia Sea Ray, and while the specifications have yet to be officially released, the speculated data provides us with enough information to compare the two.

Dimensions and Form
• HTC Omega – 120.5 x 61.5 x 10.9 mm, 137g
• Nokia Sea Ray – 116 x 61 x 12mm, approximately 130-140g
The HTC Omega sports a minimalist design similar to the HTC Flyer. Nokia, on the other hand, has chosen to go in a complete different direction with the Sea Ray. Like the upcoming N9, the Sea Ray features an exterior devoid of traditional buttons, instead opting for complete touchscreen browsing. Each device sticks with the conventional sleek, rectangular build.

Display Screen
• HTC Omega – 3.8 inch qHD display
• Nokia Sea Ray – 3.8 inch AMOLED display
The rumors surrounding the Nokia Sea Ray refer to an AMOLED display guarded with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass. The HTC Omega is purported to feature a higher quality qHD display with 960 x 540 resolution, which has many tech bloggers excited as a result.
Winner: HTC Omega
Processing Power
• HTC Omega – 1.5GHz single core CPU, 512MB RAM
• Nokia Sea Ray – 1GHz to 1.4GHz single core CPU, 512MB RAM
It’s questionable whether the 512MB of RAM in the Omega or the Sea Ray is capable of pushing Windows Phone 7 past Android in the smartphone market. Nevertheless, the HTC Omega promises to deliver adequate utility in part thanks to its 1.5GHz processor. There has been some debate over whether Nokia would attempt to up the ante with a dual core machine, but in all likelihood they will opt for a single core CPU to mitigate costs.
Winner: HTC Omega
Operating System
• HTC Omega – Windows Phone 7 Mango
• Nokia Sea Ray – Windows Phone 7 Mango
Both the Omega and the Sea Ray run on Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 platform. Additions to the software include improved social network integration and a text to voice/voice to text feature that will help facilitate message sending. Unlike with HTC’s Android products, their likely won’t be an overlay such as the Sense UI given Microsoft’s stance on open source.

Camera
• HTC Omega – 8 MP primary camera, unknown secondary camera
• Nokia Sea Ray – 8 MP primary camera, unknown secondary camera
The Nokia Sea Ray’s 8 megapixel snapper is complete with with auto-focus, LED flash and 720p video capture. The HTC Omega’s 8 megapixel camera, however, is rumored to offer 1080p video capture, as well as a serviceable front-facing camera. With Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Skype, the video chat feature should be a strong selling point for both smartphones.
Given the similarities in technical specs, Nokia gets a slight edge based on reputation, although if the HTC Omega does indeed offer 1080p video capture, it clearly would be the better camera.
Winner: Nokia Sea Ray
Conclusion
In a head to head comparison, the HTC Omega scores a narrow victory based on its processing power and more impressive qHD display. On the other hand, the Sea Ray represents a great step forward for Nokia, and it will be interesting to see how each device responds to the update to Mango.

Also there is no such phone as the HTC Omega?
Michael, I didn’t write the article, so I couldn’t be sure on the resolution, but I can assure you that the HTC Omega exists.
