Star Wars Fleet Commander Game Is Touchtastic

The Star Wars Fleet Commander game is an epic example of what Star Wars battle games should resemble.  The recipe for a perfect Star Wars game?  Explosions, PEWPEWPEW sound effects, and Jedi-filled cut scenes.  While Fleet Commander does seem to leave out the awesome cut scenes, it brings the other two aspects to a massive scale.

Arthur Nishimoto, instead of creating an iPad application and having to hire a landscaper(s) to rake his money, applied this simple recipe on a scale that might have been a bit too large.  Bigger is not always better – take it from a guy who rides trains in Chicago.  A passenger accidentally sits on you on these trains and you no longer exist.  Gone with the wind.  You know what else is gone with the wind?  *Snickering*  Yep – that’s what you get when Taco Bell installs Wi-Fi hotspots into 5,600 locations.

Basically, there are tons of touch screens through which you can send your amazing Star Wars ships of destruction to blow up other peoples’ hopes and dreams Star Wars ships of destruction.  We interrupt this broadcast to give you a coma-inducing, and informative, block quote of information.

Developed at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) by MS graduate candidate Arthur Nishimoto, “Fleet Commander,” originally designed for use with TacTile, a 52-inch multi-touch LCD tabletop display, has been ported to EVL’s 20-foot wide multi-touch LCD wall, Cyber-Commons.

I have to say – if this were an iPad app, I would (digitally) guzzle it faster than you could down an entire bottle of Windex.  I have terribly slow download speeds at my location, and I am assuming that you would take incredibly long to drink Windex.  Note:  DO NOT DRINK WINDEX.  It’s not blue Kool-aid, it’s not melted jello, it’s pure window-cleaning fun.  As we know from the Bee Happy Dancing Flower, pure fun is detrimental to your health and relationships.
