iRemoco RC Helicopter Is Controlled by iPhone, iPod, or iPad
The A.R. Parrot Drone has made quite a splash, but that thing is $250. I make that off of Cool Gizmo Toys about every ten years. (Just kidding, things aren’t that bad, but it would help if you subscribed here and got the latest gadget and toy news.) The iRemoco RC helicopter is going to be a lot cheaper than that – Andrew Ayres and Tom Sisterson are going for a price tag around $100. In order to control the iRemoco RC copter, you’ll need to download the free app from iTunes and have an iPhone or iPod touch. (The inventive duo have an iPad app that is still pending iTunes’s approval.)
RC Helicopter: iRemoco
The iRemoco project initially started as a project needing funding on Kickstarter, a place where businesses can get some monetary assistance, a.k.a free money. How about I put this one on there… “Cool Gizmo Toys New Site Design.”
Target Funding: $404,000,000,000
Price of New Design: $7
Total money unethically taken: Whoa. I have to go buy out the Star Wars franchise and make some more movies. We’re using the same cast though – I don’t care how many folds of skin Princess Leia has, I want the same actors! Guy who played the Chancellor! Get out of your wheelchair – we’ve got work to do, you old bag of flesh. Never mind – we’re replacing that guy with Charlie Sheen. He might not be able to turn Mace Windu to the dark side, but he’s still winning.
The iRemoco RC helicopter has a small IR piece that you attach to your iPhone in order to control this flying toy. When you are flying the iRemoco, you have two options in terms of controls. You can either choose to use the accelerometer or bring up the 3D joysticks to make your iPhone feel more like a real remote control. The iRemoco heli is meant mainly to be flown indoors, but you can take it outside if you want to intentionally massacre your $100 toy. This RC copter charges via USB, which is fine with me, and is a 3 channel device.
