Hot Wheels Video Racer Lets Kids Capture Their Moments of Triumph
Kids love to create massive jumps and tracks for their Hot Wheels cars, and then force their friends and family to watch the cars go flying until one of them lands. Unfortunately for the child’s friends and family, Hot Wheels tracks are often unreliable. It’s going to be a long day for those people. VROOOM – CRASH. Wait! I’m doing it again! VROOOM – CRASH. Wait – one more time! VROOM – CRASH. Wait! Wait!
Hot Wheels Video Racer – Onboard Storage To The Rescue
With the Hot Wheels Video Racer, this problem is obsolete. This cool toy is packed with a VGA video camera in its front bumper, which can film up to 12 minutes of video on its 512 MB onboard storage. The Hot Wheels Video Racer can film in either 30 or 60 FPS modes, and I recommend using 60 FPS. Why? Just because it’s better. (For you paintball freaks, FPS is not feet per second. It’s frames per second. Kids these days – shooting each other with gas-pressured rifles.)
Hot Wheels Video Racer – Buttons and Mini LCD Screen
The Hot Wheels Video Racer has a total of three buttons – a Record/Stop button, a Play button, and a Pause button. The Record/Stop button is located on the trunk of the car, is a sizable piece of plastic, and needs to be pressed for recording to start. (Remember to wait until the light in the Record/Stop button turns red before racing that thing down the track.) On the bottom of the car is a .95 inch LCD screen, a Play Button, and a Pause button. The LCD screen is for immediate playback, i.e. right after a child has successfully jumped over a pile of potatoes with a car, and the two buttons control this immediate gratification.
Hot Wheels Video Racer – Upload, Export, and Release Date
There is a mini USB port located on the backside of the vehicle which allows for video transfer to the computer. (Both Windows and Mac are compatible.) Here, kids can utilize Hot Wheels’s easy to figure out video editing software to export and show their video off to the world by uploading it to youtube or playing it on the TV for the family. This toy will come out in the fall of 2011, and will be $60. This may seem like a high price, but in addition to taking video of Hot Wheels tracks, the Hot Wheels Video Racer will come with mods that allow it to be strapped to helmets, put on wrists, and overall used as a portable video camera.
