The Nintendo 3DS Is Finally Mine

Nintendo 3DS: Testing… Testing… Snack Break… Testing…

Hello everybody, I have two pieces of good news to share.  One, I got the 3DS.  Two, my head didn’t “Aspload”, reference to a former post, when playing it!  I tried to test all of the different functions of the system, and have succeeded in doing the following: Playing AR (augmented reality) games, two different genres of 3DS games, and a DS game.  I found most everything to be enjoyable, save a couple of minor things.  Enjoy!  By the way, the aqua blue 3DS is the best color.  Stop hating.

Guys, do not throw away the game manual!  You will need it!  It is impossible to be good at this game without looking up the controls – you will get killed every time.  This is the best game that I have played for the 3DS by far.  It includes a wide variety of playable characters, outfits, colors, and moves.  (I’m going to have to spend a long time finding all of the hidden treasures this game has to offer.)  The gameplay, believe it or not, is not extremely repetitive.  (As I had imagined it would be.)  This game rules.  No complaints.  (Except that all of the move names are in Japanese and no one has battled with me in the figure Street Pass mode.)  Ah, yes.  Street Pass mode.  Basically, you are allowed to choose characters from the game, figurines, that will battle if you pass someone else who has Street Pass turned on for Super Street Fighter IV.  Awesome.

Circle Pad – Awesome And Bad At The Same Time

I found the Circle Pad, which has virtually replaced the D-pad, to be extremely helpful and responsive in Gameplay, but not really effective in menus.  I feel like it’s hard to select the right thing, since the Circle Pad often thinks I am wanting to go down on a menu when I actually want to go right.  Maybe I’m just strange, and a giant complainer because I can just use the D-Pad for menus, but that was my experience.

Super Monkey Ball 3D and Pokemon Diamond

Super Monkey Ball 3D is fun, don’t get me wrong, but it is not on par with Super Street Fighter IV.  I feel that Super Monkey Ball 3D lost some of the things that made the monkey ball series great, and enjoyed the regular “monkey in a ball” mode the most, which disturbed me.  (The monkey boxing has gone down so many levels.  So many.  The racing is okay.)  Pokemon Diamond was enjoyable on the 3DS.  Enjoyable, but not any different from playing it on a DS.  (Which, I guess, is the point.  It’s not 3D, so it is not as fun as a 3DS game on the 3DS.)  I didn’t have any of the loading problems which other people were claiming to have.
