Top 11 April Fool’s Day Gadgets from ThinkGeek

(Supreme Ruler Of All That Is Published On Cool Gizmo Toys)

ThinkGeek is notorious in the cyber world for having ridiculous products.  This, in turn, gives it an incredibly good chance at making other people feel like morons when they try to purchase something such as “Squeez Bacon.”  (Don’t feel bad – I’ve been fooled at least twice when browsing their site.)

April Fools Day: Beware

These 11 gadgets are the best ten April Fool’s gadgets from ThinkGeek of all time!  Check it out.  These are in order of awesomeness, and if I have left any cool gadgets from ThinkGeek out or if you disagree with the order, leave a comment.  (I admit it: that was a cheap attempt at getting people to leave comments.  My judgement is supreme – the order is right, and the beatings will continue until morale improves.)

1. Executive Atom Collection – 2003 And Repeated In 2004

ThinkGeek Executive Atom Collection

This is by far my favorite of ThinkGeek’s April Fools day gadgets.  The Executive Atom Collection comes with a single atom of every element on the periodic table!  I probably just think this is a cool toy because I’m a chemistry nerd.  Priced at $14,999.99

2. SkyTag – Green Laser Aircraft Tracker – 2005

Skytag Green Laser Aircraft Tracker
ThinkGeek makes this one more believable than some of it’s other April Fool’s products by making the laser green.  (Anyone who has ever been on ThinkGeek knows that they sell infinite numbers of green lasers.)  The SkyTag is basically a module that points an extremely powerful green laser at overhead aircraft and can track planes and helicopters.  Sweet.  $149.99

3. Pet Computer Viruses – Starter Collection – 2004

Pet Computer Viruses
The Pet Computer Viruses Starter Collection is a black box, that appears slightly evil, which contains thirty different viruses!  You can hook them up to your computer and crash it, though that is not recommended.  This cool gag is $100.

4. PC HabiCase – 2004

PC Habicase Gadget ThinkGeek
The PC HabiCase is an ingenious gizmo.  The HabiCase serves as a computer and a habitat for your hamster at the same time!  This is an easy way to save space in your house and not have to dispose of your pet!  $149.99

5. p-Teq: USB Pregnancy Test – 2008

P-teq USB pregnancy test
What’s the easiest way to make sure that pregnancy tests are 100% accurate?  Make them electronic!  The p-Teq USB Pregnancy Test has a perfect record not only for letting you know if you’re pregnant, but also for measuring your hormone levels.  That’s impressive for $17.99

6. ThinkGeek WiiHelm – 2007

Wiihelm ThinkGeek April Fool's GadgetIs the Wii too tiring for your out of shape body?  No problem!  Just put on the WiiHelm, sit on the couch, and move your head.  It’s that simple!  $24.99

7. USB Pet Rock – 2009

ThinkGeek USB Pet Rock Toy
This is another of ThinkGeek’s April Fool’s day gadgets that actually managed to trick me.  (I wasn’t going to purchase the USB Pet Rock, but I thought it was a real product.)  The USB Pet Rock has actually been made a real product now, so if anyone wants to pay $10 for a rock with a USB cord, be my guest.

8. moodINQ Programmable Tattoo System – 2010

MoodINQ Programmable Tattoo Gadget ThinkGeek
It is shameful to admit that I again managed to be fooled by a ThinkGeek April Fool’s Day Gadget.  The moodINQ Programmable Tattoo System claims that it has the ability to instantly print tattoos onto your arm which are somehow digital and can only be removed by the scanner itself.  All that is required is tha t you have a chip inserted into your arm which projects the tattoo onto your skin.  Pretty cool, but unrealistic and not available for $149.99.

9. Dharma Initiative Alarm Clock – 2010

Lost Dharma Initiative ThinkGeek Clock
The Dharma Initiative Alarm Clock will be a funny gag to those of you who have watched “Lost” and will make no sense to anyone else.  Basically, a specific set of numbers have to be typed into the Dharma Initiative Alarm Clock or you will implode.  $49.99.

10. Defendius – Labyrinth Lock – 2008

Defendius Labyrinth Door Lock ThinkGeek
The Defendius Labyrinth Door Lock is more funny than realistic.  The premise is that instead of having a normal chain door lock, like the ones on top of apartment and hotel room doors, you have a chain that you can only unlock if you go through a menacing labyrinth that appears to be ridiculously hard.  $49.99.

11. Interactive Portal T-Shirts – 2009

ThinkGeek Interactive Portal Shirts Gadget April FoolThis is kind of a confusing gadget, but apparently the idea came from Portal, the video game.  Yes, the awesome one.  The shirts both have LCD screens on them and they show an image that the other person is seeing.  So, if your friend is wearing the shirt and he is looking at a piece of pizza, you will see a piece of pizza.  Cool.  $99.99.

I love this idea. I wish it wasn’t an April Fool’s joke. I would actually buy one of those klcocs, as long as they could make it so there wasn’t a little click/flip sound every time a minute passed and one of the numbers changed. ABC should sell a Dharma clock like this in the LOST store on their web site. It wouldn’t need to have the keyboard and require people to enter the numbers to turn off the alarm like this joke clock does. I’d be happy just with a regular alarm clock that had the look and style of the countdown clock in the Swan, especially if the alarm sounded like the Swan alarm and the numbers turned into the red and black symbols when the alarm went off. And I can think of at least three other people I know of who would immediately buy one.

Anna – I totally agree – ThinkGeek could make some real money off of this one!
