LG GD910 Watch Phone
Yes, It Tells Time Too
I have a Casio calculator watch, and many people ask me if it is a phone. The less intelligent of those people ask me if it tells time. I would love to have a watch that doubles as a phone, and luckily, the LG GD910 Watch Phone is just that. This can be a great product and it can also be a not-so-great product.
LG GD910 Watch Phone: To Buy or Not To Buy
There are several factors that would greatly change how interested you are in getting this watch/phone:
- How much media you want your phone to have
- How much money you want to spend on it
- Where do you live
The LG GD910 is a good phone. It has speakerphone, and the screen is big enough for you to text but small enough that it doesn’t look like you have a phone taped to your wrist. If you are okay with the three main issues listed below, this is a great choice for you.
Details, Details, Details
The LG GD910 only has 80 MB of storage. So, if you are planning to put a ton of songs on this watch phone because it does have MP3 capability, you’d better Un-plan. Why? Because it actually has only, I repeat, 80 MB OF STORAGE. Depending on whether your mp3 file is compressed or not, that gives you storage space for about 2 to 25 songs.
Also, there is no headphone jack. For some reason, LG decided that they would rather put a camera on the phone than a headphone jack, so there is no headphone jack. You have to use bluetooth to listen to anything without bothering your neighbor. If you normally use bluetooth, this is not an issue for you.
The reason for the camera is that the LG GD910 watch phone does video calling, similar to face time on the iPhone 4. Personally, I would rather have a headphone jack, even though video calling is a pretty cool feature.
Who Does LG Think I Am? Warren Buffet?
The price on the LG GD910 is pretty insane. $700. I would never pay that much for a phone, even if it is a really cool watch phone. Also, I’m fairly sure that this cool watch phone only works in “everywhere except America.” Yep. So if you live in China, the UK, Russia, or some other place that is not the U.S., this phone will work. If you live in the U.S., like me, too bad. Go buy an iPhone and tape it to your wrist.
