Like many gadgets that we see today, the WowWee Roboscooper is a pretty cool idea that falls short of its potential.  The designers were attempting to create a device that could pick up and transport objects.  So far, this sounds like a really good robot to me! Unfortunately, this is not what they ended up with.

What WowWee Roboscooper Does

The WowWee Roboscooper, in its essence, just picks up objects and discards them into its cargo hold.  It has no ability to carry said objects to a bin and put them away.  It simply picks things up and drops them into its back, which doesn’t have a huge capacity.  I am going to tell you the limitations of this innovation and how it could be improved.

Cons

The first mistake was not putting in a rechargeable battery.  Instead, the WowWee Roboscooper runs on 6 AA Batteries, which is not powerful or good for the earth.  Secondly, the WowWee Roboscooper is a weakling.  It can barely pick up any object more than a few ounces.  What?! That renders this robot completely useless.

Cargo Capacity

Thirdly, the WowWee Roboscooper’s cargo hold is tiny!  Let’s say that you assign your Roboscooper to pick up the mess you’ve made in your room. There are three things that could, and probably will, go awry.  Your robot could run out of batteries (6 AAs don’t last if you leave the thing on autonomous mode in your room all day), all of the trash in your room could be too heavy for it to pick up, and the cargo hold could overflow and leave your room even dirtier than before.

Overall Impression

Overall, this is definitely a cool idea.  Unfortunately, the developers at WowWee did not bring the Roboscooper to its full potential.  They should have had a better power source, stronger motors, and the ability to place items in a bin.  There is one saving factor for this robot device though. The Roboscooper includes a remote control, so you can take objects and put them into a bin.  Despite this, I think it would be easier to just pick the stuff up and put it into the correct bin yourself.
