Samsung BRIX Concept Phones are the coolest concept phones that I’ve seen in a while. 

EXPANDABLE SCREEN SIZE

This phone, if it comes out, will allow you to connect additional rectangular modules to the Samsung BRIX to increase the screen size.  This would be good for watching movies, or even just browsing the internet. The phone itself is just a multimedia touch screen phone, many of which we have today: it has a rectangular block-like shape with a full touch screen. The brick modules that would be available for the user to attach onto the phone would roughly be the size of the phone itself.  

COOL PHONE – BUT IS IT PRACTICAL

Despite the fact that this is, indeed, a cool concept, I don’t see the practicality.  I don’t believe that people are going to pay money to buy a bunch of brick modules to attach to their phone just to make the screen bigger.  Where are people going to carry these brick modules when they are not using them?  Maybe we can all just… I don’t know… walk around with these huge touch screen blocks attached to our phones.  I mean, why not?  Just take the whole thing and shove it in one of those huge cargo pants pockets.  Just make sure when you get a call not to knock all of those expensive screens off and onto the floor.

DESIGNED BY STUDENTS

Finally, I think that we can all admire the ingenuity of this phone without having to make it a reality. Although I just DESTROYED this concept, I would like to applaud the students who came up with this idea with just a ten week design class.  That’s pretty good.  Take a look at the pictures below and comment if you think that the BRIX Concept idea has more potential than I believe it does.
