2010 Dodge Challenger

I am excited.  The 2010 Dodge Challenger is here!  Yes!  There are only two major problems.  One, I don’t have any money.  Two, the 2010 edition is almost the EXACT SAME CAR as its predecessor, the 2009 Dodge Challenger as reviewed by Popular Mechanics.  Let’s see… the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT 8 had 425 horsepower from a 6.1 Liter V8. The 2010 Dodge Challenger has… 425 horsepower from a 6.1 Liter V8.  What is Dodge trying to pull?

Fuel Economy

The fuel economy is a little bit better (by 4 mpg), but really.  Is that all they could do?  But, I guess since this is a muscle car, nobody who buys muscle cars cares about fuel efficiency.  If they did, they wouldn’t be shopping for muscle cars, right?  Muscle cars are supposed to be all horsepower and nothing else. Most muscle cars are just huge engines on wheels.

New Color

The one thing that Dodge is boasting is the new “Plum Crazy” color for the SRT 8.  Oooooh.  I’m going to go to the Dodge dealership right now and buy the 2010 Dodge Challenger just because it comes in purple. Forget the fact that I could save thousands of dollars by buying the 2009 Challenger, virtually the same car, in a DIFFERENT COLOR!

2010 Dodge Challenger Worth The Money?

So.  The bottom line is… SAVE YOUR MONEY.  Either wait until Dodge actually decides to make a better Challenger or just buy the 2008 or 2009 models for less dough.  There’s absolutely no point in buying the 2010 model unless you are an avid collector of all purple muscle cars or you are just intentionally blowing your money.  I’m truly disappointed in Dodge.  Maybe a non-American company that actually knows how to manufacture and design decent cars should take a crack at making a muscle car.
