The Schweizer 300C RC Helicopter by Ultimass, available for $20 on Amazon, is a mid-sized R/C helicopter that is an adept hoverer, can be run on two channels for dual flight, and has a strong structure so it won't easily break if you crash it into a wall and it plummets down onto your granite countertop.  Looks cool too.
